Dr Don Urquhart
Don Urquhart is a Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and University of Edinburgh.
Don trained in respiratory paediatrics in London (before undertaking a sleep fellowship in Brisbane. His MD research studied the relationship of sleep and exercise hypoxia with measures of inflammation in children with Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
Don is co-chair of the British Paediatric Sleep Association. His post in Edinburgh has a large clinical caseload of children with respiratory sleep problems. He has active sleep research including work (funded by Action Medical Research and The RS MacDonald Charitable Trust) on the prevalence of sleep-disordered breathing in children with epilepsy.
Don is a member of the Exercise Working Group of the European Cystic Fibrosis Society and the European Respiratory Society Task Force on Standardisation of Exercise Testing in Respiratory Disease. He PI on several clinical trials of investigational medicinal products in Cystic Fibrosis
