James Paton is a Senior Research Fellow in Paediatric Respiratory Disease at the University of Glasgow. 

Until 2022, he was one of 5 paediatric respiratory consultants at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow and was responsible for setting up the Long Term Ventilation Service. With Colin Wallis and Elspeth Jardine was an early member of the UK Long Term Ventilation Working Party.
