Dr Jen Townshend is a consultant General and Respiratory Paediatrician in the North East Of England, having trained in the North East, New Zealand and Canada. Her areas of interest are Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma and Inducible Laryngeal Dysfunction. Jen was the subject matter advisor for the Healthcare Service Investigation Branch national investigation into childhood asthma and has been co-chair of NHS England and Improvement’s ‘Training and Capabilities’ workstream of the National Bundle of Care for Children and Young People with Asthma since 2019. She was the National Clinical Lead for children’s and young people’s (CYP) Asthma at NHS England from 2022-26 and has recently been appointed as the CYP asthma lead for the National Respiratory Audit Programme.

Jen founded BeatAsthma in 2017, a charity aimed at improving awareness and education in CYP asthma. She developed and continues to lead on the delivery of both the online and face to face tier 3 national training courses for CYP asthma.
