Stefan Unger is a paediatric respiratory consultant at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP) Edinburgh and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. He is the current elected chair of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Paediatric respiratory infection and immunology group and co-chair of the Paediatric Bronchiectasis Network UK (PBNetUK).

Dr Unger graduated from Edinburgh and obtained his PhD at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) following a Medical Research Council (MRC) Career Development Fellowship in The Gambia.

Dr Unger’s research interests include studying the origins of persistent respiratory disease burden in children with chronic suppurative lung disease and has been an investigator in clinical trials, working with academic and industry partners.
