Elspeth Jardine is the Ventilation Service Coordinator at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
Throughout her nursing career, she has worked with children with respiratory disease and has a particular interest in children requiring long term ventilatory support. In 1994, she was awarded a Florence Nightingale nursing scholarship to look at national support services available to children dependent on long term ventilation at home. She co-chaired the UK working party looking at the needs of the chronically ventilated child with Colin Wallis from 1996 – 2020, and worked with him from 1996 to 1998 on the NHS HTA grant to review the current status of paediatric long term ventilation in the UK. Since returning to Glasgow, she has been developing and managing the paediatric long term ventilation service which provides packages of care and support to children with complex medical needs including a dependency on ventilation across the west of Scotland.
