Professor Elphick is a consultant in paediatric respiratory medicine and sleep medicine and is a visiting professor at Sheffield Hallam University. She trained at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Melbourne Children’s Hospital and Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Her interests are sleep-disordered breathing, non-respiratory sleep disorders, narcolepsy and long-term ventilation. She was awarded by the Health Foundation for development of a city-wide behavioural sleep service in Sheffield.

She holds an NIHR i4i grants for development of the Contactless Portable Respiratory Monitor (CPRM) and development of custom-made interfaces for children using non-invasive ventilation. She has collaborated on NIHR funded projects including the PLEASANT asthma trial.
